I am a Deviant

De•vi•ant: (noun) a person or thing that deviates or departs markedly from the accepted norm.

Her•e•tic: (noun) anyone who does not conform to an established attitude, doctrine, or principle.

Two words that have occassionally been used when describing Jesus Christ. Jesus' way of thinking deviated from the normal way of thinking. Jesus knew that the heart of man was deceitfully wicked but chose to love and die for us anyway. That is deviant thinking.

God knew that the works of man meant nothing and could do nothing to acheive redemption so He came and sacrificed himself so that we might know redemption when we deserved hell. That is deviant thinking.

To think that man is good and trustworthy is truly wrong. We are not good. The Bible says there is NO GOOD MAN, NOT ONE. But God loves us enough that He still wants to redeem us from what we truly deserve. This is just one of the reasons that I must serve God. There is no logic to this, it is just pure unadulterated Love, Grace and Mercy. Logic and normal thinking says that if a man deserves death then he should get death. Deviant thinking says that if a man deserves death give him forgiveness and life eternal.

Jesus came and fulfilled prophecy and in doing so he ruffled the feathers of the religious normal of his time. Thus they branded him a HERETIC. He did not conform to the established attitude or doctrine instead he preached that he was the way the truth and the life.

Today there are many things in the church body that does not line up with the word of God. These are things that we must ALL work on. We must draw closer to Christ. We must put our trust in God. We must seek the face of God and not OUR will but HIS. The Church organization may brand me as a Heretic but I can honestly say that I don't care what man says I have to answer to God.

I don't know all the answers but I know God and the Bible says He will lead us in Spirit and in TRUTH. Most Christians understand the Spirit part of that statement but we must also realize the TRUTH part as well.

Should we trust man to lead us truthfully? I would say no. We SHOULD listen to them and then STUDY the word of God and PRAY for guidance of the Holy Spirit so we can understand the truth. I am not saying that our leaders purposely deceive us but the only way we will know if they are on track is to learn the Word of God. Besides, the Bibles says that every man must seek HIS OWN SALVATION with fear and trembling. A man can NOT save us. A man can NOT impart knowledge into our spirit - these things can only be done by God.

A man can tell the truth. A man can teach us the truth. But how do we know it is the truth?

According to some the things I say make me sound like I am a deviant, and to others, it makes me sound like I am a heretic. I will wear these brands as badges of honor but I will NEVER tell you to believe me...I will tell you to READ THE BIBLE, PRAY and SEEK THE TRUTH from GOD.

It is interesting to note that these two terms "deviant" and "heretic" are usually associated in a negative light. But given their true definition, we, as Christians, should not be fearful of these terms that people would want to label us by.
Jesus even stated, that people will hate you and even want you away from that which is the "norm".
I think people who truly love and want to serve God are tired of the norm in the religious cirles. Denominationalism has become dogmatic and outdated. The grass withers, and the flowers fade, but the word of God lasts forever.
