Today my family and I went to see a movie, Alien vs. Preditor Requiem. A little gorey but overall a good sequel to first AVP movie. During the movie one of the characters made a statement about the government that caused an audience reaction that was somewhat unsettling.
The character said something to the effect, "the government wouldn't lie to us." and the entire audience chuckled a very sarcastic chuckle. I know that we have had a lot of reasons to distrust our government for many years now but it was very scary at how the audience laughed. It is not that they laughed but how they laughed.
It also seems that people are thinking this way about Christians. That is really scary. We have hurt our reputation so bad that people are leary about doing business with so-called Christian businesses. I have spoken with many people who feel the same way. They have no real problem with Christ but they do with Christians. Not because of their faith but because of their business practices.
Our credability is losing ground much like our government's reputation.
We must FREE JESUS in our lives so we can rise above our human nature and strive to be better than the preceptions of the world. If we are truely a Christian nation as we claim then we must compel our government to do the same. (Impossible?) I don't know. (Improbable?) could be. But we as Christians and citizens must do this on an individual basis. Start at home and be a better Christian there first then to the world.
